Year 2012, Preanka’s first project completed within her studio. Beginning her journey with an insight of stitches – the way in which they hold something together. This has been Preanka’s first catwalk piece which was made in a specific time phase at such a scale. She has extremely enjoyed working at large scale where it has given her the chance to explore with other materials other than metal with so much detail.
Inspiration – Based around architect Frank Gehry. Where his theory is to have that feeling when you’re a baby in your mother’s arms and the folds of her dress are comforting. The delicacy and fluidity, which comes through in Preanka’s pieces.
(2013) As a designer, Preanka’s creative process continues into a more natural and architectural plan, rather than a simple collection. Almost all of her inspiration comes from researching distinguished contemporary architects, particularly, Frank Gehry – learning from their designs and insight. Preanka has been deeply observing the softness and fluidity of the movements created in Gehry’s buildings and how it can be conveyed by various use of materials.
